CHANGE OF VENUE, DAY & TIME OF FUTURE MEETINGS
2024 / 2025 Lecture Season
At the Annual General Meeting on Friday 22nd March 2024, a decision was taken following a vote by those members present to change the venue, day and time of The Lit meetings. It was agreed that for the forthcoming season of lectures we will move from the Nairn Free Church to the Nairn Community Centre (Dava Room), and from a Friday to a Monday evening. We will also revert to our former timing of 7.30 p.m.
These changes have been discussed by the Committee many times, specifically as an attempt to attract more members and attendees at the lectures, and to avoid clashes with other groups such as Music Nairn and Cinema Nairn. We have been very appreciative of the space available to us at the Free Church, but by moving to the Community Centre we will be able to offer members a more intimate venue, where it will be easier to both hear and see the presentations on screen. Importantly, we will have the technical help and expertise of the Centre staff. We will also be able to offer refreshments after the lectures with the intention that the move brings us more fully into the community of Nairn.
We hope that this move will meet with members' approval, and will be embraced by all. If it later proves to be unpopular or detrimental to the functioning of The Lit, the changes will be reviewed and discussed again at the next AGM in March 2025 if necessary.
The new programme for the 2024 / 2025 Lecture Season, which begins on Monday 7th October 2024 at 7.30 p.m., will be circulated to members in early September and advertised locally as usual.
Many thanks
